Noticing Red Flags? New Diagnosis? Start Here...

If you’re feeling unsure about your toddler or preschooler’s development—whether you’re noticing delays, early red flags, or navigating a new diagnosis—you’re in the right place.

Research consistently shows that addressing developmental concerns early can significantly improve communication, learning, and adaptive skills, and may reduce the need for more intensive support later on. Waiting to “see how things unfold” can sometimes delay opportunities to build the skills your child needs right now.

At LCDS, we offer developmental assessments and hands-on support focused on the areas your little one needs most. Even if your child is under 2 or not yet eligible for a formal diagnosis, early developmental delays or red flags can be supported right away. Whether you’re seeking a professional opinion, practical strategies you can use day-to-day, or one-to-one support for your child, we’re here to help.

No waitlists. No diagnosis required. Flexible hours and scheduling available.

Support can begin right away.

Early Red Flags to watch for...

Every child grows at their own pace, but some behaviours and patterns can be signs that a little extra support may help. Families often reach out when they notice any of the following red flags:

Communication & Social
   •    Limited speech or slow language development
   •    Not responding to their name
   •    Difficulty making eye contact
   •    Challenges  interacting, or playing with others
   •    Limited gestures (pointing, waving, showing items)

Play & Learning
   •    Preferring to play alone most of the time
   •    Limited imitation skills
   •    Difficulty with pretend play
   •    Repetitive play patterns (lining up toys, spinning)

Behaviour & Emotional Regulation
   •    Frequent big feelings or tantrums
   •    Difficulty with transitions or routines
   •    Sensory sensitivities (sounds, textures, lights)

Repetitive or Unique Behaviours
   •    Flapping, rocking, pacing
   •    Fixation on certain objects or routines
   •    High interest in specific topics or sensory input

These signs don’t automatically mean autism — but they do mean your child deserves support, understanding, and a developmentally informed plan.

So where do you go from here...?
